Ginger is a member of the Zingiberaceae family which also includes turmeric.

Ranging in color from gold, tan, yellow, beige, white or reddish, ginger's rhizome (or root) should be peeled before being used.

Ginger is packed with antioxidants and contains powerful phytonutrients called gingerols and zingibain.
