Yerba Mate

Yerba Mate is a steeped drink renowned for its healing and energizing properties. It comes from the leaves of the rainforest holly tree Ilex paraguariensis, a plant native to the Americas.

Yerba mate is often compared to green tea for its high antioxidant properties, but yerba mate actually has more benefits than the popular tea with 196 active compounds. It’s a caffeinated powerhouse of nutrients such as polyphenols that protect DNA, 24 vitamins and minerals and 15 different kinds of amino acids. Some of the purported benefits of yerba mate’s nutrients include a reduced risk of some cancers, healthy digestion, improved cardiovascular health and increased immune responses. Its caffeine content increases focus and alertness.

Unlike coffee, yerba mate is low in tannins, which help maintain a smooth flavor, and is less likely to cause jitters or stomach acid imbalances.
