Oil, Palm Fruit

Palm fruit oil, not to be confused with the palm kernel oil, is made from the fruit of the palm plant and is significantly different in composition.

Unlike palm kernel oil, palm fruit oil has micronutrients such as beta-carotene and vitamin E - powerful anti-oxidants that fight free radicals.

Compared to other tropical oils such as coconut oil, palm fruit oil is significantly lower in saturated fat.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of controversy over both types of palm oil as the production of the plant has been found to be a direct contributor to deforestation across many countries.

With a flash point of 450 F, palm fruit oil can be safely used in higher heat cooking preparations such as sautéing and pan-frying.
