Oil, Flax

Flax oil is a highly beneficial product derived from seed of the flax plant. It is high in omega-3, omega-6 and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) which – in the right ratios – cab help to reduce inflammation in the body. These fatty acids not only lower bad cholesterol, they also prevent heart attacks, reduce arthritis and lower blood pressure.

Due to these levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, flax oil is often compared to fish oil, however the body is not very efficient in converting the ALA into the acids found in fish oil, so it is not a sufficient replacement. Research has shown that flaxseed oil may be a tool in fighting cancer: it has successfully reduced melanoma tumors and prevented prostate cancer cells from reproducing.
