Mushrooms, Reishi

Reishi mushrooms have been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine as an herbal remedy to combat fatigue, improve the immune system, and fight cancer. Scientific research, however, has limited evidence to prove these theories.

Reishi mushrooms contain complex sugars known as beta-glucans that may prevent the spread of cancer cells. They are also high in antioxidants and water-soluble polysaccharides, which help lower blood pressure and restore the body to its natural state.

Since there is some suggestion that they prevent blood from clotting, it is advised to consult a professional before taking them.

Reishi mushrooms are very bitter and not used in cooking. They are often dried for tea or supplements.
